COCC Cares

Being a great place to work isn’t just about maintaining nice facilities and a fun workplace. As a large employer in the State of Connecticut, COCC is committed to being a supportive corporate partner within the communities where we live and work, as well as a steward of sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Community Involvement

Community Service Days

All employees receive paid time off to participate in community service activities! Through this program, employees can use up to two paid days per year (up to 16 hours for full-time employees; pro-rated for part-time employees) to participate in community service. Community service days can be scheduled on a regular work day or exchanged with a day off during their regular work week in order to participate on a weekend day or any hours/days outside of their regular work schedule.

Community Partnerships

COCC partners with a number of organizations throughout Connecticut. We work locally with a large variety of nonprofit organizations, addressing priorities such as food insecurity, youth services, health care, homelessness, animal rescue, and more. We support these organizations by offering volunteer groups, sponsorship dollars for special events or funds, and direct charitable contributions.

Employee Resource Groups

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are also passionate about creating opportunities to serve our communities. From turkey drives to Pride events and beyond, our ERGs commit to holding at least one community service event at an organization of their choosing per year.

Charitable Giving

Matching Gift Program

COCC employees may request a personal charitable gift to be matched by COCC.

Quarterly Community Giving Fund

Each quarter, we ask our employees to submit their nominations for a charity or nonprofit that is  that serves members of our communities where we reside or where we do business – and even better if it’s an organization with which employees have a personal connection. Leaders from within our People Teams review the submissions and select an organization each quarter to receive a donation from COCC. The selection process takes several factors into consideration, including the organization’s locale, services, and how its mission meshes with COCC’s. And while we regret that we aren’t able to choose every charity that comes our way, we strive to ensure a broad range of organizations are selected throughout the year.

Charitable Giving Fund Program

COCC’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Task Force selects 12 charities per year, focused on DEIB topics and relevant awareness months, to receive a monthly contribution from our employees. Employees can elect to enroll in the fund, which is collected via payroll deductions. COCC will then match what employees contribute.
