COCC Marks Top Workplaces Win with Week-Long Celebration

On September 21, COCC was recognized as the No. 1 Top Workplace in the medium-sized companies division by the Hartford Courant. In celebration, COCC kicked off a full week of fun and food for all employees, featuring bagels from Southington’s own Fancy Bagels, football trivia with chances to win prizes, an ice cream sundae bar, freshly popped popcorn, and a cookout from Saint’s BBQ in Southington. In Avon, employees also enjoyed bingo games and a lunch from Greer’s Chicken.

This week-long celebration brought the COCC community together to thank all employees both for their commitment to COCC’s core values, as well as for their candid feedback and comments that brought COCC to the No. 1 spot. Employee feedback has been a significant driver in recent years for many of COCC’s newest initiatives, including a vast offering of wellness classes, reimbursements, and discounts; community service opportunities; an expanded parental leave policy for new parents; and much more.

Even beyond the perks and fun activities, COCC remains committed to being a Top Workplace each and every day. Employees truly enjoy coming to work, finding their jobs challenging and their leadership highly involved. Every year, CEO Rich Leone gives one main piece of advice to employees: “Be nice to each other.” This advice, coupled with the core values of Trust in Teamwork, Share the Passion, Deliver Results, and Secure Our Future, are what make COCC the No. 1 Top Workplace.

The work environment is great, the work itself is challenging, yet rewarding. I feel like the end result of my work actually means something to a lot of people.”
